La Grange, Texas
December 7 - 9, 2018
It has taken a lot of work, but our Christmas weekend is now completely finalized. We will be
traveling to the historic community of La Grange, Texas for this year’s Christmas celebration.
Because the way the calendar falls, most venues are not beginning their Christmas season
celebration until this weekend. Looked at the previous weekend starting on November 30th, and
there just weren’t many options for a season-themed weekend.
Therefore, our weekend will begin on December 7th and continue until departure on December
9th. We’ll have a fun-filled day on Friday which will keep us busy after arriving at the Fayette
Regional Air Center Airport (3T5) in La Grange, Texas. Friday afternoon will include a short
trip to Monument Hill & Kreische Brewery State Historic Site tour topped off with a
Christmas light show and dinner at Lights of Tejas.
Saturday will be a day to explore the historic town of La Grange with the following options
available:
1. Fayette County Courthouse. Completed in 1891, the three-story building will be
open for docent tours from 9 am - 2 pm.
2. Texas Heroes Museum. Museum of heroes who fought for Texas’ independence
to present day heroes located in the Old Fayette County Jail constructed in 1883.
3. Texas Quilt Museum. Featuring three exciting exhibits including one by
legendary artist and innovator Kaffe Fassett.
4. Historic Faison Home. Built in the mid-19th century, one of the oldest homes in
Fayette County featuring original furnishings of the Faison family.
5. Historic Casino Hall (which is their visitor’s bureau). Built in 1881 by social
club founded German immigrants featuring social events and traveling plays.
6. Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center. Czech heritage cultural museum.
7. Local wineries and tasting rooms. Several local wineries and tasting rooms in
the immediate vicinity.
Saturday evening will be our annual Christmas dinner at Celebrations in downtown La Grange.
Happy hour will begin at 6 pm with an open cash bar. Dinner will begin at 7 pm in their
Christmas-decorated private catering venue next door.
We will have shuttle vans available for the weekend.
We have blocked 40 rooms at the local Best Western in La Grange at a rate of $120/night. Call
them directly at 979-968-6800. Please complete the attached registration form and call into the
Best Western to book your room.

02:00 pm - 05:00 pm Monument Hill & Kreische Brewery State Park
06:30 pm - 09:30 pm Lights of Tejas Christmas light show and meal
10:00 pm - 11:30 pm Hospitality suite open for end-of day socializing
Saturday (8th):
All day On your own for sight-seeing and shopping
02:00 pm - 05:30 pm Hospitality suite open for socializing
06:00 pm - 09:00 pm Christmas Dinner at Celebrations on the Square

09:30 pm - 11:00 pm Hospitality suite open for after-dinner socializing
Sunday (9th):
